I looked at the weapon uncertainly. "So...you want me to shoot this?"
Chalan smiled and nodded. "But I...have never even touched a bow or an
arrow before. How can I possibly shoot it?" Chalan answered, "Well there's a first time for
everything isn't there?" He cheerfully plopped down next to a tree
nearby to watch.
I sighed. Guess I wasn't getting out of this. I walked over and
carefully picked up the bow and looked at the weapon closely. It was
plain wooden bow that they used for training. There were tons of scratches
and places where the wood was chipped.
My stomach did flips and I felt nauseous. I stammered out, "I-I can't
do this-" Smack! "OUCH! Hey watch it Chal- Oh. Who are you?" I asked as
I turned around to find not Chalan, but a tall, dark haired guy with a
scar on his face. He looked slightly older than me, maybe by a year or
two. In his hand, he held metal staff, which I'm guessing is what I was
hit by. We studied each other for a few seconds. Then he turned around
toward Chalan and asked, "Hey. You sure she's good enough?"
His tone was so stuck up it made my temper rise. I carelessly said,
"You don't have to be so rude Mr. Scarface." As soon as I it left my
mouth I knew I went too far. He whipped around and shouted "WHAT DO YOU
KNOW?" and I feared he had gone mad. "Easy Kennith!" said Chalan as he
leaped from his spot and came between us. Even with Chalan between us,
Kennith's glare was still so intense. His expression was frightening,
and the scar on his face did not help. Suddenly he stormed off, leaving
me stunned and still standing behind Chalan. I jingling sound could be heard with each step he took. Then I noticed that the sound from came from a coin tied to his staff. It was the coin of the magician.
